American photographer Mary Goldau’s strength is seeing past all that lies on the surface and capturing moments of a story that are in between what meets the eye. Her degrees in Sports, European History and Photography coupled with over 11 years experience in a corporate world have lead her to this point in her life where sharing this deepened story has become her aim.
This exhibition is the kickoff to a larger long term project in which she will be showcasing women who are involved in sports which are historically dominated by men. These athletic roles women carry come with a heavy stereotype; one of them being overly tough, possible too masculine. My intent with this project is to visually juxtapose these two aspects - strength and soft femininity - and hopefully spark a discussion on the many facets women embody
